A-E-I-O-U's of Marriages

"Marriages are made in Heaven". How many times have we heard this saying! Marriages maybe made in Heaven, but have to be lived out on earth and earth, is a far cry from Heaven. So I feel it wouldn't be wrong to say that marriages are a delicate balance between Heavenly rules and earthly realities.

And finding the right partner to maintain this right balance for a happy marital life is not an easy task either. You need to know your vowels well for this. Yes, your A,E,I,O,U's as in:

A - Attitude. Having the right attitude always gets you miles ahead in life. This case being no different.

E - as in effort. You need to put in lots of effort to get to know your partner well and to let your partner know you better too.

I - as in be very very truthful when it comes to talking about I, that is; yourself. Do not glorify the 'I' but lay down the facts straight.

O - for openness, a very important factor before and after getting married. Don't ever pretend to be what you are not in front of your partner. A life based on pretence will only make you miserable and all those around you along with you.

Finally, the fact that always needs to be kept in mind for any marriage to work -
U for us. Once you decide to share your life with someone you have to think in terms of us. Us as in you and your spouse, the children, family, friends, career, dreams, wishes etc. This is where the balancing factor plays the most crucial role. Decisions need to be made jointly and communicated correctly and effectively.

I feel that if these basic rules are followed well, they will open up a life filled with love, laughter and happiness. Of course there will be ups and downs. But these are the moments where you need to remind one another of the promises made to each other, of the love shared. After all if you want to sleep on a bed of roses, you have to know how to handle the thorns.
